Creating a Home Your Cat Will Love

Cats are incredible animals that bring joy and companionship to our lives. To ensure your furry friend is happy and healthy, it's essential to create an inviting home environment that meets their needs. Here are some tips for making your home suitable for your beloved cat:

  1. Provide Comfortable Resting Places: Cats need a cozy, dry, draught-free, clean, and quiet place to rest. Ensure they have access to comfortable beds where they can sleep undisturbed.

  2. Designate a Toilet Area: Cats require regular access to a suitable toilet area, whether it's outdoors or a litter tray indoors. Keep the toilet area separate from their eating and sleeping spaces.

  3. Offer Safe Hiding Places: Cats need hiding spots where they can retreat when they feel scared or overwhelmed. Create safe hiding places in your home to help your cat feel secure.

  4. Encourage Play and Exercise: Cats are intelligent and active animals. Provide them with plenty of toys and space to play, climb, and explore. Indoor cats, in particular, need extra stimulation to prevent boredom.
PopCats hotel is committed to play time, not only do we have long and open spaces for cats to do their zoomies, we also have naturally made cat trees to satisfy the climbers. Cat's mental stimulation is just as important, therefore we have even prepared cat puzzles like Nina Ottosson's bug puzzle , rainy day puzzle and more to come!

  5. Create Elevated Spaces: Cats love to climb and perch in high places. Install shelves or provide cat trees to give them opportunities to climb and rest at elevated heights. At PopCats Hotel we firmly believe in this hence the creation of our Play Suites which allows your cat to climb and perch to their heart's content. 6. Ensure Safety and Security: Make your home safe and hazard-free for your cat. Remove any potential dangers or toxic substances that could harm them.
If you love having the windows open, don't forget to mesh them up as you never know when a bird will fly too close triggering the cat's hunting instinct.
Over at PopCats we ensure windows are always closed but also installed commercial grade air vents to draw stale air out and replace with fresh air.

If you're planning to go on holiday, consider your cat's needs:

  • Cats are territorial animals, so they may become stressed when taken out of their familiar environment. Whenever possible, arrange for a pet sitter to care for your cat at home.

  • If boarding your cat, bring along familiar items such as their bed and toys to help them feel more comfortable.

  • Ensure that cat carriers are secure and comfortable for transport, and introduce your cat to new surroundings gradually to minimize stress.

Remember, cats need mental and physical stimulation to thrive. Keep them active and engaged with plenty of toys, interactive play sessions, and opportunities for exploration. By creating a safe, comfortable, and stimulating home environment, you can ensure that your cat leads a happy and fulfilling life.

If you have any concerns about your cat's well-being or behavior, don't hesitate to seek advice from a veterinarian or qualified cat care specialist. Your cat's health and happiness are worth the extra effort and attention.
